Bianchi revives the pirate bike with a limited edition

Pantani's 1998 bike is brought back to life. No, it's not AI, but Bianchi 's new limited edition.

The historic brand welcomed international media and stakeholders to Casa Bianchi, the renovated headquarters and production site in Treviglio, to tell the story of a phase of profound evolution and projection towards the future: new products, a new brand experience and an increasingly close relationship with the market for the most historic and iconic brand in the world of cycling.

On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the Brand , the new soul of Bianchi was told between history, present and future. To clarify its spirit, the words of Cavalier Salvatore Grimaldi, President of the Italian Brand , are enough. “Bianchi is part of my family and I deeply believe in its potential. The goal is only one: to become the best bicycle company in the world that produces the best bicycles in the world".

Alberto Cavaggioni, CEO and General Manager of Bianchi since March 2025, added: “Bianchi has all the ingredients to reclaim its rightful role. It is an industrial boutique: a place where innovation meets artisanal care, where every product is designed around the customer”.

the evolution of the range was presented, reaffirming the company as a true full-liner in the sector, capable of ranging from electric to muscular, from road to gravel, from off-road to commuting. On stage were the e-MTBs, a sector in which Bianchi will continue to believe and invest, working on the offer designed around users and their different needs. The latest Bianchi news in this sector are the e-Vertic FX, a versatile and powerful full-suspension trail e-MTB, which focuses on great autonomy to guarantee hours of fun, to which is added T-Tronik X, the Sport and Trekking e-MTB, also powered by Bosch.

In addition to the new products for the constantly growing gravel segment, Bianchi took the opportunity to unveil a new limited edition Specialissima RC Pantani, to celebrate the historic Giro d’Italia-Tour de France double in 1998.

It is a numbered and limited edition model of 101 pieces, just like the Pirata's race number at the 1998 Giro d'Italia . The livery faithfully reproduces that of the Mercatone Uno-Bianchi of the time, but celebrates performance excellence - weighing just over 6 kg - and Italian engineering with wheels and the new Campagnolo 13-speed gearbox. The new Specialissima Pantani can already be ordered, and will be delivered starting in autumn 2025.

Throughout the event, the public was able to witness the assembly of a Bianchi bicycle , the iconic Specialissima model, among the production lines, a testimony to the technical and human know-how and attention to detail that characterizes Bianchi, a symbol of the synergy between all the company's souls. Bianchi is in fact a "full cycle" company, able to directly control all the key phases of the assembly process.
