The Slovenian returns to yellow, Vingegaard over two minutes later
Tadej Pogačar won the 180.6km stage 12 of the Tour de France, from Auch to Hautacam. The world champion reclaims the yellow jersey in a Tour that appears to be over.
Fifty-two riders broke away, and on the Col de Soulor, only Armirail, Woods, Rubio, Storer, and Skjelmose remained in front, but their fate was sealed. Meanwhile, yellow jersey Ben Healy dropped away, while Remco Evenepoel, Enric Mas, and Matteo Jorgenson also struggled.
There was no contest on the final climb: Pogacar sprinted ahead, leaving Vingegaard unable to keep up with him. At the finish line, Pogacar led Vingegaard by more than 2 minutes and Florian Lipowitz by about 2 minutes 20 seconds. Evenepoel trailed by 3 minutes 30 seconds, while Primoz Roglic lost more than 4 minutes. The gaps were huge.
