Diego Ulissi wins the Giro dell'Appenino, a one-day category 1.1 race, from Novi Ligure to Genoa, 198.5 km.

The XDS Astana Team rider attacked in the intermediate section between the Pietralavezzara descent and the Madonna della Guardia climb , 35 km from the finish line. No one was able to react to the Tuscan's attack, only Barrè and Fabbro tried to get back under the hardest section of the climb, but without success.

The group tried to chase in vain in the final stretch of the plain, with Ulissi triumphing alone with 9" on Ponomar and 14" on Velasco who regulated the peloton in the sprint.
