Mauro Schmid vince l’undicesima tappa del Giro d’Italia con arrivo a Montalcino. Lo svizzero della Qhubeka Assos precede Alessandro Covi e, più staccato, il belga Harm Vanhoucke.

Tra gli uomini di classifica il migliore è Egan Bernal, giunto undicesimo a 3’09’’ dal vincitore, davanti a Emanuel Buchmann. 

In difficoltà Giulio Ciccone che perde 1’47’’ dalla maglia rosa, ma soprattutto Remco Evenepoel che arriva al traguardo di Montalcino con 2’08’’ di distacco dal leader della classifica generale.
