Longo Borghini seeks encore, watch out for Reusser and Kopecky

The women's Giro d'Italia starts this weekend. Eight stages are scheduled from July 6 to 13 for a total of 939.6 km.

It starts with an individual time trial in Bergamo, then the second stage with the finish line in Aprica. The most difficult stages are the fourth with the finish line in Valdobbiadene and the seventh on Monte Nerone.

Closing in Imola, on the 2020 world circuit in the suggestive setting of the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

The clear favorite is Elisa Longo Borghini , national champion again and winner of the 2024 edition. Her main rivals will be the Swiss from Movistar Marlen Reusser and, if she does well in the classification, the world champion Lotte Kopecky. Her team, Sd Worx, also features Anna Van der Breggen, who has already won the Giro four times in the past, and the strongest sprinter in the world, Lorena Wiebes.

Italy will also be cheering for Monica Trinca Colonel for the general classification and Chiara Consonni for the sprints (Elisa Balsamo is absent).

Other interesting names for the general classification are the Fdj couple Juliette Labous-Evita Muzic (Demi Vollering absent) while Marianne Vos will try to win as many stages as possible.

Remember to field your lineup in the Women's League!
