The Belgian offs all at over 40 km from the finish
Remco Evenepoel won the Clasica de San Sebastian of 224.8 km, winning the Spanish race for the second time in his career.
The decisive action started more than 40 km from the finish, on the Erlaitz climb, where the Belgian attacked and immediately made a selection. The only one to hold his wheel, for a few minutes, was Simon Yates , who then collapsed due to the rhythm of the unbridled Quick Step Alpha Vinyl racer.
Left alone, Evenepoel first managed the advantage over Yates himself, Carlos Rodriguez and Pavel Sivakov of Ineos Grenadiers, Tiesj Benoot of Jumbo Visma and Bauke Mollema of Trek Segafredo, then he finally made a void.
On the finish line Evenepoel preceded by two minutes Sivakov, second, and Benoot, third.
The news of the day is the crisis of Tadej Pogacar : the Slovenian has broken away from the group of the best over 60 km from the finish. Bad many of the protagonists of the last Tour de France as well as the winner of the Giro d'Italia, Jay Hindley , and the eternal Alejandro Valverde , in his last San Sebastian before retiring at the end of the season.
