Vingegaard defeated in the sprint, the Slovenian returns to the yellow jersey
Tadej Pogacar won the seventh stage of the Tour de France, from Saint-Malo to Mûr-de-Bretagne (Guerlédan), of 197 km.
During the first pass over the finish line, the day's breakaway riders, including Geraint Thomas and Alex Baudin, were caught. Shortly afterward, Arkea's Ewen Costiou was also caught. About forty riders remained at the front, with Visma Lease a Bike setting a blistering pace for their captain, Vingegaard.
On the second and final lap toward the finish, the most impressive performances were by Pogacar, Vingegaard, and Evenepoel, but in the sprint, the world champion once again won, ahead of the Dane and Oscar Onley. Evenepoel finished sixth.
With this victory, Pogacar returns to the yellow jersey, especially since Mathieu Van der Poel finished more than a minute behind. Joao Almeida and Santiago Buitrago crashed in the finale. They rejoined, but both are out of the rankings.
