Richard Carapaz won the fourteenth stage of the Vuelta, from Montoro to Sierra de La Pandera of 160.3 km, arriving at the end of an 8.5 km climb at 1,817 meters.

The Ineos Grenadiers rider, on his second stage win, was part of the day's breakaway, detaching his fellow adventurers on the difficult final ramps and resisting the return of the men in the standings.

Behind him came the first difficult moment of the Iberian race for Remco Evenepoel (Quick Step) who broke away at -3 from the finish due to the attack of Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma). The Slovenian, third at the finish line behind a brilliant Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana), gained almost a minute on the Belgian, who remains the leader of the general classification. And tomorrow we climb Sierra Nevada.
