Australian sprinter leaves with immediate effect

"For as long as I can remember, the world has revolved around racing. The intense routine, the sacrifice, the pursuit of constant improvement, the hunger to win: it has been my rhythm, my identity. But what once represented everything to me, today is no longer."

So, with a social announcement, Caleb Ewan has decided to retire from cycling with immediate effect.

The Australian sprinter ends his career at just 30 years old after signing a contract, a few months ago, with Ineos Grenadiers.

"Even when I crossed the finish line first, that feeling – the one you chase for years – faded faster than before. My experiences over the past two seasons, especially the second half of 2024, have had a significant impact on my relationship with the sport," Ewan wrote.

“I’m glad I didn’t let that period define the end of my career and I’m proud of what I achieved in a short but successful stint with Ineos Grenadiers.”

Ewan, who has worn the jerseys of Lotto and Jayco AlUla, has five stage victories in the Tour de France and five in the Giro d'Italia. He has climbed to the top step of the podium 65 times.
