Incredible final corner: Pedersen and Vingegaard defeated
David Gaudu (Groupama FDJ) wins the third stage of the Vuelta a Espana, from San Maurizio Canavese to Ceres (134.6 km).
Verre , Quinn, Gamper and Van Boven attempted to break away from the early stages of the race, but the Lidl-Trek men did not give them much space, also due to the short distance of the stage.
With 19km to go, the red jersey group catches Quinn , the last escapee to give up, and heads towards the finish line in Ceres on a slight climb.
In the final kilometres, Visma and Lidl set a crazy pace: Ciccone pushed until the last hairpin bend and launched Pedersen , but Gaudu drew a masterpiece of a curve, overtook Vingegaard and Pedersen and triumphed in Ceres.
Vingegaard retained the red jersey with the same time as Gaudu, thanks to his better placing in the first stage. Ciccone finished third, 8 seconds behind.
