Mads Pedersen won the fifth stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Ceglie Messapica to Matera, 151 km.

After the breakaway of the day with Epis, Davide Bais and Milesi, caught at -13 from the finish line, it is time for a sprint with several sprinters dropped in the previous kilometres.

Pedersen also seems to be in difficulty but manages to recover the wheel of his teammate Mathias Vacek and wins a splendid sprint beating Edoardo Zambanini and Thomas Pidcock.

The Danish rider from Lidl Trek, with his third stage victory, confirms his pink jersey.

Tomorrow the arrival in Naples after 227 km.
