Back to racing in Canada, here are the main favorites

Double cycling event not to be missed, Friday 9 and Sunday 11 September: after the two-year stop caused by the pandemic, the Quebec GP and the Montreal GP are back, two category 3 World Tour races, to be held in Canada, true and just starter of the world championship scheduled in two weeks in Australia.

And decisive races also from a Fantacycling point of view, with the assignment of numerous points that could make you climb different positions in the championship standings.

These are two interesting tests, with a rough elevation profile and both on the circuit. The Quebec one measures 12.6 kilometers and must be repeated 16 times for a total of 201.6 kilometers. Inside there are a couple of tears but above all the arrival at the top of the Grande Allée ramp, climbed with not impossible slopes, after almost 3 thousand meters in altitude.

The Montreal GP will see the same protagonists at the start of two days before: the circuit measures 12.3 kilometers with few difficulties such as the Côte de Camillien-Houde (1.8 km at 8%), the Côte de Polytechnique (780 m at 6%) and Pagnuelo (534 m at 7.5%). Here the difference in altitude is 4842 meters and the total distance measures 221 km with an arrival that tends to rise slightly.

The start lists are of a high level: there are Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) and Tadej Pogacar (Uae Emirates), ready to 'make the leg' for the world championship and compete for a good placement. We remain in the teams of the two great protagonists of the last Tour de France to indicate, as possible outsiders, also Christophe Laporte and Diego Ulissi .

Impossible not to mention the winner of the last two editions of Quebec, namely Michael Matthews (Bike Exchange) who, however, seems a little behind in condition. The fourth 'inconvenience' is, without doubt, Biniam Girmay (Intermarchè), now perfectly placed among the favorites on the eve of almost all the races with a 'classic' course. The Ineos Grenadiers presents itself, as always, with a high-level team: there are the three 'captains' of the last Tour, namely Geraint Thomas, Daniel Martinez and Adam Yates , will they be able to team up for a good result?

Then we move on to the other teams, with riders considered suitable for the course: there are Pello Bilbao, Matej Mohoric and Ian Tratnik of Bahrain Victorious, Jasper Stuyven and Quinn Simmons of Trek Segafredo, the eternal Peter Sagan (Total Energies), on the hunt for a jolt of pride after a less than brilliant season, Warren Barguil (Arkea), Benoit Cosnefroy (Ag2r), Mauro Schmid and Mikkel Honoré (Quick Step).

It will be interesting the clash between the teams that are looking for UCI points to stay in the World Tour, with extremely motivated riders at the start. This is the case of Alex Aranburu (Movistar), Magnus Cort and Neilson Powless (Ef), the house idol Hugo Houle and Simon Clarke (Israel) and Sylvain Moniquet (Lotto).

Said of Ulissi, among the Italians at the start there will also be Andrea Pasqualon (Intermarché), Alberto Bettiol and Andrea Piccolo (Ef), Alessandro Covi and Davide Formolo (Uae), Giacomo Nizzolo (Israel), Damiano Caruso (Bahrain), Andrea Bagioli (Quick Step), Fabio Felline (Astana) and Giovanni Aleotti (Bora).
