The time has come for a more in-depth analysis of the season , in particular of the top 10 of the Azzurri in terms of points won with the aim of evaluating who, in 2023, could be chosen by the fantamanagers.

Damiano Caruso 1218 points: after a brilliant 2021, with second place in the Giro d'Italia, the Syracusan dropped but still brought home some important placings such as seventh place in the Tirreno-Adriatico, sixth in the Romandie and fourth to the Dauphiné. The Tour missed the acute until the final retirement. A season divided in half.

Giulio Ciccone 874 points : we always expect a lot from him, especially for a good general classification in the great stage races. Instead the Abruzzese seems to have specialized in stage successes such as the resounding success at the Giro in the hamlet of Cogne. Other points have come from the leaks, for 2023 there remains a big question mark.

Alberto Bettiol 838 points : his class is not discussed but the physical problems continue to affect his performances. Losing the Northern classics, he recovered brilliance in Switzerland and the Tour where he came very close to a stage victory (second to Mende). He was our captain at the World Cup, proving to have a great leg, but he had to settle for eighth place. We hope that luck will remember him.

Filippo Ganna 803 points : there are those who speak of disappointment, in particular for the lack of victories in the Tour and in the World Time Trial. Yet in its specialty it is a guarantee of points. We'll see if the Ineos will give him more freedom in some classics and, given the route of the Giro, we are waiting for him among the sure protagonists.

Alberto Dainese 771 points : it was the revelation, with the stage success at the Giro and a good Tour in which he fearlessly threw himself into some sprints against great rivals. 2023 will be the year of confirmation and, we are sure, of further satisfaction.

Vincenzo Nibali 750 points : his career ended in 2022, in a year where he finished fourth in an atypical Giro. Imagine if Fantacycling was born when he dominated his opponents in the great stage races ... we will miss him.

Domenico Pozzovivo 744 points : still awaiting the contract renewal, at 39 he put behind more than one young opponent in stage races. Moving in the Giro d'Italia, finished in eighth place, he did not disfigure in other races such as in Switzerland and also in the Giro dell'Emilia (third behind Mas and Pogacar). We hold tight to its history, made up of serious injuries and miraculous recoveries. Applause.

Andrea Bagioli 652 points : at 23 he is considered one of the Italian riders to focus on for the future and, we are sure, the Quick Step talent has time to show great things. Some flashes in 2022, such as the stage victory at Catalunya and third place at the Montreal GP.

Matteo Sobrero 643 points : time trial specialist, he regrets not having won a Tour of Poland suited to his characteristics (finished in fourth place). Nice stage success at the Giro d'Italia, obviously in the time trial. In 2023 he is expected to achieve some prestigious results also in online racing.

Samuele Battistella 638 points : his season was conditioned by many physical problems. When he was well, he showed good qualities like at the Vuelta where he placed two breaks, with some regrets for a second stage place, and important points from a Fantacycling point of view. Fresh from renewal with the Astana, he will have the opportunity to shine even in one-day races.
