Protesters block the runners and occupy the final straight
The final stage of the 2025 Vuelta has also been canceled. The entry of a group of protesters onto the route, 58 kilometers from the finish, caused the peloton to slow down and split up, before finally stopping. The race was neutralized for a few hundred meters, before the riders stopped again. The finish line in Madrid was then attacked by pro-Palestine protesters who tore down barriers and occupied the entire final straight, making the stage impossible to finish.
The sprinters were denied the final sprint, with Jonas Vingegaard still winning the 2025 Vuelta.
