Revenge after yesterday's crisis, Træen remains leader

Juan Ayuso won the seventh stage of the Vuelta a España, from Andorra la Vella to Cerler. Huesca La Magia, 188 km.

After yesterday's slump, the Spaniard from UAE Emirates showed signs of recovery, leading a breakaway from the first climb of the day. He was joined by teammate Jay Vine, Marco Frigo, Sean Quinn, Harold Tejada, Mads Pedersen, and Raul Garcia Pierna. The group, led first by Bahrain Victorious with red jersey holder Torstein Træen, and then by Visma Lease a Bike's Jonas Vingegaard, opened up a lead of about 4 minutes.

On the final climb, Ayuso outdistanced everyone else, reaching the finish line alone. Frigo and Garcia Pierna followed.

Thomas Pidcock led the leading group by more than two minutes. Mikel Landa and Antonio Tiberi were further back.
