Thibau Nys got his cyclocross season off to a flying start. The European champion clearly won the prestigious Koppenbergcross , the first round of the X2O Trofee season, and took the race for the second time in his career. The favorite going into the race, Nys took a clear victory on the Oudenaarde course, ahead of Britain's Chris Mason (Seven Racing), who was 21 seconds behind. Pim Ronhaar completed the podium in third place, finishing 1'44" behind his Belgian teammate, thus earning his fourth consecutive podium after three second-place finishes in previous races.
