Mauro Schmid (Team Jayco AlUla) wins the second stage of the Tour of Oman, from Samail "Al Fayhaa Resthouse" to Eastern Mountain (191.3km)

In the first part of the race, a breakaway made up of Oliveira, Baudin, Veistroffer, Hvideberg, Plowright and Aniolkowski took off.

Just before the final climb, on the approach to a roundabout, a crash at the head of the group involves a dozen riders, with the peloton splitting up.

At the start of the climb, the group manages to reorganize and goes to catch up with the initial breakaway.
The first to try was Quintana , but he was reabsorbed a few hundred meters later thanks to the work of Team Jayco AlUla.

In the final kilometer, Schmid tries, but Scaroni catches his wheel but fails to overtake him in the sprint, with the Swiss champion triumphing. Tjotta completes the day's podium.

Schmid also becomes the leader of the general classification, while Adam Yates disappoints, finishing 12th, 22" behind.
