The British rider also takes the leader's jersey

Matthew Brennan (Team Visma) wins the first stage of the Tour de Romandie from Münchenstein to Friborg (194.3km).

A 5-man breakaway moves in the early stages of the race; on the Chamount climb only Zwiehoff and Kuypers remain in the lead with a 2' margin on the main group.

The two leaders are caught with 25 km to go and the peloton heads towards a sprint with a compact group, with the final km rising to 7%.

Brennan , even without companions, moves perfectly in the last few hundred meters, starts at the right time and wins with ease. Paret-Peintre and Shmidt are placed behind him.
