General classification upset at the end of the sixth and penultimate stage of the Volta Catalunya, from Salou to Cambrils of 168.6 km.

Winning the fraction was Richard Carapaz , author of a long breakaway with Sergio Higuita , beaten in the final sprint. The two took advantage of the first climb of the day when there were still more than 100 km to go. Behind them, UAE Emirates failed to close the gap immediately, thus losing the chance to save Joao Almeida's leadership.

Higuita is the new leader of the race which ends tomorrow in Barcelona.
