Samuel Watson got the 2026 season off to a flying start with victory in the Adelaide prologue of the Tour Down Under, the first WT race of the season.

Despite the success, and the resulting ochre jersey as overall leader, Watson declared that he will be completely at the disposal of his teammate Sam Welsford in the next few days suitable for fast wheels.

Starting tomorrow, with the arrival of Tanunda, a compact sprint is expected and the possibility of having a good train and above all a reliable lead-out could make the difference.

One of the most anticipated riders is Sam Welsford, winner of six stages at the Tour Down Under over the past two seasons. The Australian will face some top-level rivals, especially Brennan and Andresen .

For Ineos Grenadiers , the number one objective, at least in their statements, will not be defending the ochre jersey, but rather the pursuit of as many partial victories as possible.
