Former American champion to launch new team with WorldTour ambitions
A breath of fresh air is about to shake up American cycling. George Hincapie , former US national road champion and Tour de France stage winner, along with his brother Rich, is preparing to make his return to the world of professional cycling with an ambitious project for 2026.
A team with American DNAThe new team, which aims to register as a UCI ProTeam for international competition, will feature three leading figures in US cycling as sports directors: Alex Howes, Ty Magner and Joey Rosskopf. The trio has already selected the first 11 riders of what will become a roster of 20 athletes.
European base and great ambitionsThe team, which will have its operational base in Girona, Spain, can already count on a major title sponsor who will commit for several years, with the declared goal of growing until reaching the WorldTour level. At least half of the roster will be made up of American riders, confirming the strong American imprint of the project.
Innovative ManagementParticularly interesting is the choice to entrust the sporting direction to three former (or still active) professional riders: Rosskopf, currently director of Team Project Echelon Racing, Magner, who is concluding his career with L39ION of Los Angeles, and Howes, engaged in the off-road calendar with the support of Cannondale.
The official announcement, scheduled for June 18, will reveal the team name, the title sponsor and the entire technical staff. For fantasy cycling fans, this new project could offer interesting investment opportunities on young American talents ready to make the big leap into international cycling.
