The "maestro" returns to success after a difficult year.
David Gaudu couldn't contain his joy after winning the third stage of the Vuelta a Ceres . The Frenchman surprised everyone at the finish line and snatched a victory that revitalizes him after a lackluster period: "This morning, before leaving, I thought it would be a day for Pedersen," Gaudu said after the finish. "But my teammate Stefan Küng told me I had good numbers and that I could even win. The team did a fantastic job, and I'm very happy and proud of this victory. My Vuelta couldn't have started any better."
“It wasn't planned at all,” French commented. “When he took off, I just thought about staying on his wheel and not getting into any gaps. Then, I saw there was a gap, I threw myself into it and gave it everything I had until the finish.”
Gaudu, after today's victory and yesterday's excellent third place in Limone Piemonte , shows that he is in great condition and, now, could even be among the favourites for the general classification:
"It's been a tough year for me, and I haven't won a WorldTour race in a long time anyway... The last time was the 2022 Critérium du Dauphiné; that time I overtook Wout van Aert in a close sprint, this time I did it with Pedersen. I'm feeling really emotional about this victory."
Despite the difficult time for Gaudu , the Fantacycling community has always supported the one who has become the "master" for all of us and we like to think that the chants of support and the selfies we took with him before the departure in Venaria Reale brought him luck.
