Professional training thus completes its staff
Alessandro Verre moves from Arkea to Team MBH Bank CSB Ballan Colpack, a Hungarian-licensed professional team.
The 2001-born rider thus 'descends' from the World Tour to a lower-category team, but, as he himself explained, he does not consider the move as a demotion, but as an opportunity to do better in a team where he will also have more freedom of action .
Breakaways and attacks were the defining characteristics of Verre's early career: after showing strong signs among the amateurs, the Lucanian was expected to be capable of fighting for the overall standings in stage races, but in his four years at Arkea he instead focused more on long-distance attacks.
It was precisely with a breakaway that he came close to victory this year at the Giro d'Italia in the twentieth stage, only surrendering to Harper at the finish line in Sestriere.
For Verre, this is a sort of return to this team, after having played for Team Colpack in 2021. We'll see if the change of team and a more central role in the team will have positive repercussions on the 24-year-old's career.
